Datura stramonium Linn.. This is a coarse annual herb upto about 1 m high, glabrous or farinose puberulous. Leaves stalked, about 18 cm long, ovate, deeply toothed or sinuate, pale green. The flowers are trumpet shapped, erect 7-9 cm long, white or tinged purple and open in the evening. Growing singly on short stems. The corolla, folded and only half opened, is funnel-shaped, of a pure white colour, with six prominent ribs, which are extended into the same number of sharp pointed segments. The flowers are succeeded by large, egg-shaped seeded capsule of green colour, about the size of a large walnut and covered with numerous sharp spines, hence the name of the plant
