Montelukast (Na) is oral leukotriene receptor antagonist. Blocks part of the inflammatory process associated with an asthma attack and thus helps to reduce swelling or constriction of airways. Used as an add-on therapy inthe long term management of asthma when treatment with inhaled corticosteroids and beta-adrenoceptor stimulants is inadequate. May cause headache and abdominal pain.

Indications

Montelukast is primarily indicated in conditions like Asthma, Prophylaxis of asthma.

Montelukast is also indicated for secondary conditions like Allergic rhinitis.
