Urokinase is a human enzyme synthesized by the kidney and excreted in urine. Urokinase is similar in action to streptokinase, used intravenously to break down and dissolve blood clots. Urokinase is used in the treatment of pulmonary embolism.

Indications

Urokinase is primarily indicated in conditions like Arterial thrombosis, Hyphaema, Myocardial infarction, Pulmonary embolism, Thrombosis.

Contraindications

Urokinase is contraindicated in conditions like Hypertension, Peptic ulcer, Cardiac stroke, Renal diseases, Liver diseases, Trauma, Bleeding diathesis, Internal haemorrhage.
