Side Effects

Prothionamide in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Hepatitis , Liver damage , GI dysfunction.

Prothionamide is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Depression, Headache, Insomnia, Paresthesias, Sleepiness.

Warnings / Precautions

Prothionamide should not be given to patients with severe liver disease. It is suggested that Prothionamide should be avoided during pregnancy or in women of child bearing potentials unless the benefits outweigh its possible hazards.

Interference in Pathology

Prothionamide may interfere in the diagnosis of Liver Function Test (LFT) .
