Side Effects
Phenol in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Poisoning .
Phenol produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Coma, Cyanosis, Abdominal pain, Dizziness, Methemoglobinemia, Hemoglobinuria. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.
The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Phenol are Vomiting, Pulmonary edema , Shock, Respiratory failure, Local pain.
Phenol is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Collapse, Darkening of corners, Darkening of facial skin, Dizziness, Exogenous ochronosis.

Phenol may interfere in the diagnosis of Tri-OH-indole method of estimating plasma adrenaline and noradrenaline , Ferric Chloride test for ketones or salicylates in urine , Measurement of Sulphonamides in serum , Benedict's Test for Glycosuria , Test for ionized calcium in serum .
