Side Effects

Glyceryl Trinitrate in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Tachycardia , Bradycardia , Collapse .

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Glyceryl Trinitrate are Hypotension, Flushing, Tachycardia , Coma, Palpitations , Metabolic acidosis, Headache, Cardiovascular collapse, Syncope , Neurologic deficit, Methemoglobinemia, Increased intracranial pressure, Hypoxia, Cyanosis.

Glyceryl Trinitrate is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Abdominal pain, Contact dermatitis, dizziness, Fecal incontinence, Headache, Nausea, Orthostatic hypotension, Palpitation, Restlessness, Syncope , Urinary incontinence, VertigoX, Vomiting , Weakness.

Warnings / Precautions

Excessive use of glyceryl trinitrate may cause headache, so reduce the dose & use analgesics (painkiller). Patients with gastrointestinal (GI) hypermotality or malabsorption syndrome should take oral or sublingual sustained release capsules rather than tablets. In terminating treatment of angina, gradually reduced the dose in order to avoid withdrawal reactions. It should not be used in patients with severe hypotension, hypovolaemia marked anemia, heart failure due to obstruction, raised intracranial pressure or angle closure glaucoma. It should be used with caution in patients with impaired kidney or liver function or hypothyroidism.Hypothermia, cereberovascular disease disease lung disease, lung desease or cor pulmonole pregnancy,lactation mitral value prolopre syncope.

Interference in Pathology

Glyceryl Trinitrate may interfere in the diagnosis of False decrease in serum cholestrol by Zlotkis-Zak color reaction technique. , Increased urinary conc. of catecholamines and their metabolites. .
