Disopyramide
Disopyramide is a sodium channel blocking agent. Disopyramide is used as an antiarrythmic agent. Disopyramide is a class IA drug and shows similar action to that of quinidine and procainamide.

Pharmacokinetics
Absorption: Disopyramide has an oral bioavailability is 97% (±2%), pre-systemic (first-pass) metabolism accounts for 12.5% (±2.5%).
Distribution: Disopyramide has a volume of distribution is 0.7 l/kg. plasma protein binding is 50-65%.
Elimination: it is metabolised via 30%, plasma half-life is 4-10 hr, renal excretion is 40-60%.

Indications
Disopyramide is primarily indicated in conditions like Arrhythmias following surgical procedures, Conversion of atrial fibrillation, Digitalis induced arrythmias, Duodenal ulceration, Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Premature systoles, Supraventricular tachycardia, Tobacco amblyopia and leber's optic atrophy, Ventricular tachycardia, Wolf-parkinson-white syndrome.
Contraindications
Disopyramide is contraindicated in conditions like Cardiogenic shock, Hypotension, Left ventricular failure, Digitalis toxicity, Second or third degree A-V block.

Side Effects
Disopyramide in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Glaucoma , Jaundice , Jaundice , Urinary retention, Myasthenia gravis , Urinary retention.
Disopyramide produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Hypoglycemia , Hypoglycemia, Negative ionotropic effects, QRS widening, QT prolongation, Torsades de pointes, Hypoglycemia. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.
The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Disopyramide are Bradycardia, Cardiac arrhythmias, Apnea, ECG alterations, Unconsciousness, Asystole, Ventricular fibrillation.
Disopyramide is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Abdominal pain, Blurred vision, Constipation , Dry mouth, Fatigue, Headache, Skin rash, Sweating , Weight gain, Xerosis, Xerostomia .
