Side Effects

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Norgestrel are Withdrawal bleeding in females, Nausea & vomiting, Dizziness, Sleepiness.

Norgestrel is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Acne, Depression, Dizziness, Faintness , Fatigue, Hair loss, Redness.

Warnings / Precautions

Before you take this medication, tell your doctor your medical history (including family medical history), especially if you have: asthma, high blood pressure, kidney or liver diseases, heart disease, history of jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes) or high blood pressure during pregnancy, excessive weight gain or fluid retention during your menstrual cycle, strokes, blood clots, heart attacks, seizures, migraine headaches, breast cancer, high blood level of cholesterol or lipids (fats), depression. Oral contraceptives may cause some degree of fluid retention. They should be prescribed with caution, and only with careful monitoring, in patients with conditions which might be aggravated by fluid retention.

Interference in Pathology

Norgestrel may interfere in the diagnosis of Liver Function Test (LFT) .
