Side Effects

Chloroprocaine in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include CNS stimulation, Convulsions .

Chloroprocaine produces potentially life-threatening effects which include change in cardiac conduction. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Chloroprocaine are Ventricular arrhythmias, Bradycardia, Hypotension, Cardiac arrest, myocardial depression.

Chloroprocaine is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Blurred vision, Drowsiness, Fever, Itching, Tinnitus.

Warnings / Precautions

The safety and effective use of chloroprocaine depend on proper dosage, correct technique, adequate precautions and readiness for emergencies. Injections should be made slowly, with frequent aspirations before and during the injection to avoid intravascular injection. Local anesthetic injections containing a vasoconstrictor should be used cautiously and in carefully circumscribed quantities in areas of the body supplied by end arteries or having otherwise compromised blood supply. Local anesthetics should also be used with caution in patients with impaired cardiovascular function since they may be less able to compensate for functional changes associated with the prolongation of A-V conduction produced by these drugs. Chloroprocaine should be given to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed.
