Gallamine Triethiodide is a benzylisoquinolinium, a competative neuromuscular blocker similar to atracurium. Gallamine Triethiodide is used to produce muscle relaxation in general anaesthesia for surgical procedures and also to assist mechanical ventilation. It has parasympatholytic and sympathomimetic properties and frequently increases pulse rate and blood pressure.

Use with caution in patients with hypertension or cardiac insufficiency when tachycardia would be undesirable; it should preferably be avoided in obstetric surgery. Gallamine should be administered by, or under the supervision of, an experienced anesthesiologist. Facilities for intubation, artificial respiration, and oxygen therapy should be available, as well as edrophonium or neostigmine and atropine as antidotes.
