Hepatitis B Immunoglobulin is a sterile liquid freez-dried preparation containing immunoglobulins, mainly immunoglobulin G (IgG), derived from the plasma from selected immunised donors having specific antibodies against hepatitis B surface antigen. Hepatitis B immunoglobulins are used for the passive immunisation of persons expose or possibly exposed to hepititis B virus.

Side Effects

Hepatitis B Immunoglobulin is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Chills, Facial flushing, Fever, Headache, Hypersensitivity , Nausea.

Warnings / Precautions

It should be used with caution in patients with any pre-existing illnesses, blood disorders or any allergy, including any drug allergy. It should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Pateints should be manitored for serum anti-HBS antibody levels regularly.

Hepatitis B Immunoglobulin may interfere in the diagnosis of Misleading + results in serological testing, Interferes with serological tests for red cell anti bodies e.g coombs test..
