Indications

Side Effects

Charcoal (Activated) in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Bowel obsturction .

Charcoal (Activated) produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Respiratory Failure , Pneumonitis, Respiratory failure. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Charcoal (Activated) are Precipitate convulsion.

Charcoal (Activated) is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Buccal mucous membrane irritation, Constipation , Dehydration , Fecal impaction, Stool discoloration.

Warnings / Precautions

Avoid concurrent use of charcoal with methionine (oral antidote) and also with sorbitol.
