Indications

Succimer is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity to any component of product.

Dosage

Succimer's dosage details are as follows:

10 mg/kg10 mg/kgPOStart dosage at 10 mg/kg or 350 mg/m2 every eight hours for five days. Initiation of therapy at higher doses is not recommended. Reduce frequency of administration to 10 mg/kg or 350 mg/m2 every 12 hours (two-thirds of initial daily dosage) for an additional two weeks of therapy. A course of treatment lasts 19 days. Repeated courses may be necessary if indicated by weekly monitoring of blood lead concentration.

Side Effects

Succimer in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Mild to modrate neutropenia.

Succimer is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Dizziness, Drowsiness, Flu like syndrome, GI disorders, Increase in serum transaminase, Skin RashX.

Warnings / Precautions

It should be used with caution in patients with impaired renal function or with a history of hepatic disorder.

Interference in Pathology

Succimer may interfere in the diagnosis of Elevations of SGPT and SGOT , False +ve test for Ketone bodies in Urine , Increased Alkaline Phosphatase Levels, Increased serum cholesterol, Falsely decreased measurements of CPK, Falsely decreased measurements of serum uric acid.
