Indications

Ferrous Gluconate is primarily indicated in conditions like Iron deficiency anemia..

Ferrous Gluconate is also indicated for secondary conditions like Chronic lymphocytic lymphoma, Iron deficiency anaemia, Persistant neutropenia in advanced hiv infection, Severe chronic neutropenia.

Contraindications

Ferrous Gluconate is contraindicated in conditions like Hemochromatosis, Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Ferrous Gluconate produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Coma, Shock . Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

Ferrous Gluconate is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Chills, Convulsions , Dehydration , Diarrhoea, dizziness, Flushing, Low blood presure, Nausea, Staining of teeth, Vomiting blood.

Warnings / Precautions

Discontinue use if symptoms of intolerance appear. Occasional gastrointestinal (GI) discomfort, as nausea, may be minimized by taking it with meal.

Interference in Pathology
