Imidapril is a long acting ACE inhibitor. It prevents the conversion of certain enzymes in the body and prevents constriction of blood vessels. It decreases the blood pressure and makes the heart beat stronger. Imidapril is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure.

Pharmacokinetics

Indications

Imidapril is primarily indicated in conditions like Essential hypertension, Hypertension.

Contraindications

Imidapril is contraindicated in conditions like Angioedema.

Side Effects

Imidapril in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Increased BUN (blood urea nitrates), Increased creatinine .

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Imidapril are Bradycardia, Hypotension, Renal failure, Shock, Stupor .

Imidapril is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Abdominal pain, Albuminuria , Cough , Decrease in hematocrit, Decrease in hemoglobin, dizziness, Headache, Nausea and vomiting, Palpitation.

Warnings / Precautions

Imidapril Hcl may produce dizziness or light-headedness due to hypotension. Use caution when driving, operating machinery or performing other tasks requiring mental alertness. Administration is not recommended within 24 hours prior to surgery.
