Indications

Fexofenadine is primarily indicated in conditions like Allergy, Chronic idiopathic urticaria, Cytotoxic-induced neutropenia, Hay fever, Rhinitis, Seasonal allergic rhinitis, Symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis, Urticaria.

Fexofenadine is also indicated for secondary conditions like Runny nose, Sneezing.

Side Effects

Fexofenadine in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Viral infections .

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Fexofenadine are Convulsions , Ventricular arrhythmias, Excitement, Ataxia, Cardiovascular collapse, Cardiorespiratory collapse, Coma, Hallucinations , Sedation , Psychosis , Tremor, Hyperreflexia .

Fexofenadine is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Blood dyscrasias, CNS depression, Cold & flu, Diarrhea, Dizziness, Drowsiness, Dysmenorrhea, Hair loss, Headache, Hypersensitivity reactions, Hypotension , Increased intracranial pressure, Nausea, psychomotor impairment, Tinnitus, Vomiting .

Warnings / Precautions

Fexofenadine should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease or any allergy, hepatic impairment. Do not take this medication for several days before any allergy testing since test results can be affected. Although drowsiness is uncommon at usual doses under normal circumstances, be aware that this medication may have such effects, before engaging in activities requiring alertness. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or lactation. Caution is advised when this drug is used in the elderly patients.
