Description

Quercus infectoria Olivier. A small tree or shrub 2-5 m high. Leaves 4-6 cm long, very rigid, often glabrescent with spinous teeth, acorns cylindrical. The galls are spherical or pear-shaped and measure 6-50 mm in diameter. The surface of the mature dry gall may be smooth and shining, sometimes seems as vanished, and chestnut brown, but usually it is rough and of a greyish-brown colour
