Raloxifene (HCl) is a nonsteroidal antioestrogen with some oestrogenic activity. Raloxifene (HCl) is used in women who are at great risk of post-menopausal osteoporosis. Raloxifene (HCl) is also indicated for prophylaxis and treatment of vertebral fractures in postmenopausal women.

Side Effects

Raloxifene (HCl) is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Depression, Fever, Flatulence, Gastroenteritis , Hot flushes, Increased intracranial pressure, Insomnia, Migraine , Nausea, Rashes , Vomiting , Weight gain.

Warnings / Precautions

Raloxifene should be used with caution in patients with any allergy (especially drug allergies), blood clots, heart failure, cancer or liver disease. This drug should be stopped at least 3 days before and during long periods of inactivity (e.g.bed rest). Blood clots, though unlikely, are more common when not moving. Avoid long periods of sitting or lying down during travel. This drug should not be used during pregnancy or lactation. This drug should not be used in children.
