Cilazapril is ACE inhibitor. ACE inhibitors prevent conversion of certain enzymes in the body and prevent constriction of blood vessels and lower the blood pressure and make the heart beat stronger. Cilazapril is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), heart failure and kidney disease in diabetic patients.

Indications

Contraindications

Cilazapril is contraindicated in conditions like Hypotension, Ascites, Hypersensitivity.

Side Effects

Cilazapril in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Angioneurotic edema.

Cilazapril produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Hyperkalemia , Renal failure. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Cilazapril are Prolonged hypotension.

Cilazapril is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Cough , Dizziness, Headache.

Warnings / Precautions

Avoid cilazapril in patients with reno-vascular disease or aortic stenosis. It should be used with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment. Treatment should start under close medical supervision. Avoid use during pregnancy.

Interference in Pathology

Cilazapril may interfere in the diagnosis of Renal vein blood sampling.
