Bacampicillin

Penicillins are active against most bacteria especially gram positive pathogen (streptococci, staphylococci,pneumococci), some negative starins (gonococci, meningoccocci), some spirochetes and some fugi. The structure of it consists of a thiazolidine ring connected to a ß lactam ring, which is attached to a side chain.it has actions and uses similar to those of ampicillin to which Bacampicillin is rapidly hydrolyzed after its administration

Bacampicillin is primarily indicated in conditions like Chronic bronchitis, Gonorrhoea, Respiratory tract infections, Urinary tract infection.

Side Effects
Bacampicillin in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Convulsions , Agranulocytosis , Seizures , Thrombocytopenic purpura , Coma , Bone marrow depression .
Bacampicillin is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Anemia, Anxiety, Depression, Diarrhea, Enterocolitis , Glossitis, Hallucination , Lethargy, Nausea, Twitching.
