Side Effects

Tolmetin (Na) produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Agranulocytosis, Renal failure, Hepatic failure. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

Tolmetin (Na) is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Diarrhea, Dizziness, Edema, Flatulence, GI disturbance, Headache, Hearing loss, Hypertension , Nausea, Rashes , Tinnitus, Vomiting , Weight gain, Weight loss.

Warnings / Precautions

Tolmetin should be used with caution in patients with intrinsic coagulation defects and those on anticoagulant therapy. It should be used with caution in patients with compromised cardiac function, hypertension other condition predisposing to fluid retention. It should be used with extra care in the presence of existing controlled infection. Perform periodic auditory (hearing) function test during chronic therapy. Discontinue drug if skin reaction occurs.

Interference in Pathology

Tolmetin (Na) may interfere in the diagnosis of Test for Proteinuria by acid Precipitation Method .
