Side Effects

Sodium Salicylate in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Gastric irritation , Hepatotoxicity , Mucosal lesions, Worsening of pre-existing heart failure.

Sodium Salicylate produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Hypersensitivity reactions, Reye's syndrome. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Sodium Salicylate are Acidosis, Fever, Hyperglycemia, Renal failure, Hypoglycemia, Respiratory alkalosis.

Sodium Salicylate is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Hyperventilation , Metabolic acidosis, Rashes , Respiratory alkalosis, Salicylism , Tachycardia.

Warnings / Precautions

Sodium salicylate should be used with caution in patients with chronic renal (kidney) insufficiency, gastric ulcer, severe anaemia, patients intolerant to salicylate.

Interference in Pathology

Sodium Salicylate may interfere in the diagnosis of Test for Urinary Glucose, Oestrogens, 17-OH-Corticosteroids, Ketones , Serum Uric Acid Test .
