Absorption: Practolol has an oral bioavailability is 96.5% (±1.5%), pre-systemic (first-pass) metabolism accounts for 3% (±2%).

Distribution: Practolol has a volume of distribution is 1.6 l/kg. plasma protein binding is < 5 %.

Elimination: plasma half-life is 10 - 13 hr, renal excretion is 100 %.

Practolol is primarily indicated in conditions like Angina, Cardiac arrhythmia.

Contraindications

Practolol is contraindicated in conditions like Acidosis, Cardiogenic shock, Heart block, Bradycardia, Refractory heart failure.

Side Effects

Practolol in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Practolol induced syndrome, Heart failure , SLE-like syndrome.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Practolol are Bradycardia.

Practolol is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Bradycardia , Bronchospasm, Constipation , Dizziness, Hypotension , Nausea, Paresthesias.

Warnings / Precautions

The drug should not be used in sinus bradycardia, when heart block is more than 1st degree, cardiogenic shock and cardiac failure.
