Porcine Insulin is a type of soluble Insulin extracted from the pancreas of porcus a pig or hog, contains 51 amino acid arranged in two chains (A and B) joined together by disulfide linkage. It differs from human insulin in only one amino acid in the beta chain. Porcine Insulin is a short-acting form of insulin, used in the management of diabetes mellitus, and diabetic ketoacidosis.
