Nefopam (HCl) is analgesic agent for the treatment of moderate to moderately severe pain. Nefopam (HCl) is chemically and pharmacologically distinct from any other class of analgesic. Chemically Nefopam (HCl) is identified as 3, 4, 5, 6-tetrahydro-5-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-2, 5-benzoxazocine hdrochloride. Nefopam (HCl) is prepared by chemical synthesis and has a unique hetrocyclic structure. Nefopam (HCl) is asdministered orally and parentrally.

Elimination: it is metabolised via extensive, plasma half-life is 4 hr, renal excretion is 87 %.

Indications

Nefopam (HCl) is primarily indicated in conditions like Before surgery in women who have anaemia due to uterine fibroids, Pain.

Nefopam (HCl) is also indicated for secondary conditions like Cancer, Surgery.

Side Effects

Nefopam (HCl) in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Convulsions , Hallucinations , Hallucinations .

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Nefopam (HCl) are Tachycardia , Convulsions , Hematuria, Hallucinations , Agitation, Coagulopathy, Patch necrosis of GI mucosa, Cerebral edema, Agitation.

Nefopam (HCl) is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Anorexia , Anxiety, Dry mouth, Dysphonia, Euphoria, Headache, Nausea, Sleep disturbance, SweatingX, Syncope .

Warnings / Precautions

Nefopam should be used with caution in patients with glaucoma, urinary retention, impaired kidney or liver function or in elderly patients.

Interference in Pathology

Nefopam (HCl) may interfere in the diagnosis of Chromatographic Analysis of Codein, Diazepam & Pentazocine .
