Indications

Lymecycline is primarily indicated in conditions like Acne vulgaris, Amoebiasis, Bacterial infections, Brucellosis, Endocarditis, Ornithosis, Pneumonia, Psittacosis, Rickettsiae, Syphilis.

Lymecycline is also indicated for secondary conditions like Acute sinusitis, Chronic bronchitis, Helicobacter pylori infection, Soft tissue infections, Trachoma.

Contraindications

Lymecycline is contraindicated in conditions like Systemic lupus erythematosus.

Side Effects

Lymecycline in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Increased blood urea nitrogen , Azotemia, Hyperphosphatemia, Acidosis , Azotemia.

Lymecycline produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Anaphylaxis , Acute hepatic dysfunctioning. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

Lymecycline is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Diarrhea, Enamel hypoplasia, Glossitis, Headache, Increased intracranial pressure, Nausea, Photosensitivity, Stomach pain, Stomatitis, Vaginitis.

Warnings / Precautions

Tetracyclines should only be used with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction, lest accumulation occurs with increased toxicity. Careful monitoring of dosage by serum levels is necessary. High dosage of tetracyclines may be hepatotoxic and great care should be used with concurrent administration of other hepatotoxic drugs. Tetracyclines should only be administered with great caution in patients with renal insufficiency lest accumulation occurs with increased toxicity. Dosage may require reduction. High dosage of tetracyclines may be nephrotoxic.

Interference in Pathology

Lymecycline may interfere in the diagnosis of False Positive result of serum amylase in pregnant women , False Positive fluorescence in Hengerty Method for measuring Urinary Catecholamines .
