Isoproterenol is used to prevent and treat wheezing,shortness of breath,chronic bronchitis and other lung diseases.<br>Isoproterenol (HCl) is a beta receptor agonist used in asthma by inhalation or orally. It may also be used as intravenous infusion in treatment of shock. More likely to cause cardiac arrhythmias than dopamine or dobutamine.<br>Isoproterenol (Sulphate) is a sympathomimetic, stimulates beta-adrenoceptors. It has a powerful stimulating action on the heart and increases cardiac output, excitability, and rate. It also stimulates CNS and exhibits bronchodilating properties.

Indications
Isoproterenol is primarily indicated in conditions like Acute bronchospasm, Asthma, Bradycardia, Bronchitis, Heart block, Reversible airways obstruction, Stokes-adams attack.
Contraindications
Isoproterenol is contraindicated in conditions like Cardiac arrhythmia, Diabetes mellitus, Myocardial infarction, Thyrotoxicosis, Ischaemic heart disease, Cystic fibrosis, Quadriplegia, Subvalvular aortic stenosis, Hypersensitivity.

Side Effects
Isoproterenol in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Cardiac arrhythmias, Cardiac arrhythmias , Dizziness , Cough , Nervousness , Tremors .
Isoproterenol produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Cardiac Arrest , Cardiac arrest, Ventilatory arrest. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.
The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Isoproterenol are Tachycardia , Tremor, Restlessness , Anxiety , B.P. alteration, Excitement.
Isoproterenol is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Anginal pain, Chest pain, damage to the teeth, Dizziness, Dryness of mouth, Flushing, Headache, Hypertension , Irregular heart beat, Nausea, Nervousness, Palpitation, Sleeplessness, Tachycardia, Tremor.
