Ipratropium (Br)
Ipratropium (Br) is a quaternary derivative of atropine and a cholinergic blocking agent. It was the first muscarinic receptor blocking agent to acheive wide therapetic use in a pressurized aerosol. Ipratropium (Br) is prepared by chemical synthesis and the racemate is used clinically. It causes dialatation of bronchiol and is used to treat asthma and obstructive pulmonary disease. Ipratropium (Br) is available for inhalational administration.

Indications
Ipratropium (Br) is primarily indicated in conditions like Asthma, Bronchospasm prophylaxis, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Reversible airways obstruction, Rhinorrhea.
Ipratropium (Br) is also indicated for secondary conditions like Rapid reversion to sinus ryhthm.
Contraindications
Ipratropium (Br) is contraindicated in conditions like Glucoma, Prostatic hypertrophy, Hypersensitivity, Urinary retention, Bladder obstruction.

Side Effects
Ipratropium (Br) in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Tachycardia , Palpitation , Angina , Tremors , Arrythmia, Tachycardia.
The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Ipratropium (Br) are Palpitations , Increased heart rate.
Ipratropium (Br) is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Anaphylaxia, Backache , Blurred vision, Constipation , Dizziness, Dry mouth, Dyspepsia , Headache, Nasal congestion , Nasal irritation, Nausea and vomiting, Rashes , Urinary retention, Urinary RetentionX, Urticaria.
