Azilisartan Medoxomil is a prodrug and selective AT1 subtype Angiotensin II Receptor Antagonist.It is hydrolyzed to Azilisartan in GI tract. It blocks the binding of Angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal gland and inhibits effect of Angiotensin.It is given for the treatment of hypertension
