Ethisterone is a progestogen, the first orally hormone active progestin. Female sex hormone administered in cases of progestrone deficiency also called hydrohydroxy-progestron, pregneninolone.

Side Effects

Ethisterone in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Amenorrhea, Menstrual disturbances, Vaginal dryness, Reduction in breast size.

Ethisterone produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Known Human, Urogenital System. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Ethisterone are Headache, Gastrointestinal disturbances, inc or dec blood cell count, Hyperglucagonaemia, Rarely chloestatic jaundice, Elevation of LFT values.

Ethisterone is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Absent thumbs, Ambigous genitalial, Heart defects, Hydrocephaly, Neuraltube defects.

Warnings / Precautions

Ethisterone should be used with caution in conditions which may be adversely affected by fluid retention, such as in cardiovascular, hepatic and renal disorder, migraine and epilepsy, it is should be avoided in marked cardiac, hepatic or renal dysfunction. Should used with care in diabets mellitas should not be given to patients with undiagnosed gential bleeding or androgen dependent tumors.

Ethisterone may interfere in the diagnosis of Effects on carbohydrates, diabetes mellitus developed in patient receiving ethisterone (400mg) for endometriosis, Effects on liver, cholestasis, peliosis, hepatic and hepatic and adenomas have been associated with ethistrone., Effects on the skin, erythema multiforme developed in two patients receiving ethisterone,.
