Dexibuprofen [S(+)-Ibuprofen] is considered as the pharmacologically active enantiomer of racemic Ibuprofen. Like racemic Ibuprofen, Dexibuprofen is a non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug with analgesic action. Like Ibuprofen, Dexibuprofen acts by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.

Indications

Dexibuprofen is primarily indicated in conditions like Dental pain, Mild to moderate pain, Osteoarthritis.

Dexibuprofen is also indicated for secondary conditions like Dysmenorrhoea.

Side Effects

Dexibuprofen in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Tinnitus , Bronchospasm , Bronchospasm .

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Dexibuprofen are Nausea, Vomiting, Abdominal pain, Lethargy, Tinnitus , Tinnitus.

Dexibuprofen is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Abdominal pain, Diarrhea, Dyspepsia , Fatigue, Headache, Nausea, Vomiting .

Warnings / Precautions

Symptoms or history of gastro-intestinal disease, asthma, impaired hepatic, cardiac or renal function. NSAID may mask infections or temporarily inhibit platelet aggregation. In late pregnancy, as with other NSAIDs, it should be avoided as it may cause premature closure of ductus arteriosus. Dexibuprofen should be used with caution in nursing mothers. Patients with mild to moderate hepatic dysfunction should start therapy at reduced doses and be closely monitored. Dexibuprofen should not be used in patients with severe hepatic dysfunction. The initial dosage should be reduced in patients with mild to moderate impaired renal function. Dexibuprofen should not be used in patients with severe renal dysfunction.
