Anagrelide
Anagrelide is a drug which reduces blood platelet count. This mechanism is still under analysis that how it reduces the blood platelets. The research work on patients supports the hypothesis of dose-related reduction in platelet production followed a decrease in megakaryocyte hypermaturation.

Indications
Anagrelide is primarily indicated in conditions like Chronic myeloid leukaemia, Thrombocythaemia.
Anagrelide is also indicated for secondary conditions like Myeloproliferative disorders, Thrombosis.
Contraindications
Anagrelide is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity.

It is recommended that patients with moderate hepatic impairment start anagrelide therapy at a dose of 0.5 mg/day and be maintained for a minimum of one week with careful monitoring of cardiovascular effects. The dosage increment must not exceed more than 0.5 mg/day in any one-week. To monitor the effect of anagrelide and prevent the occurrence of thrombocytopenia, platelet counts should be performed every two days during the first week of treatment and at least weekly thereafter until the maintenance dosage is reached. |

Side Effects
The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Anagrelide are Peripheral edema.
Anagrelide is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Abdominal pain, Anorexia , Asthenia , Back pain, Chest pain, Cough , Diarrhea, Dizziness, Dyspepsia , Dyspnea, Edema, Fever, Flatulence, Headache, Malaise, Nausea, Pain , Palpitation, Paresthesias, Pharyngitis, Pruritus , Rashes , Tachycardia, Vomiting .
