Danazol is an isoxazole derivative of ethisterone (17a-ethinyl testosterone). It has weak progestational and androgenic activities. It is a synthetic androgen (hormone). itused to treat pain and infertility caused by endometriosis (a condition involving the tissue of the uterus). italso used in the treatment of cysts or lumps in the breast.

Indications
Danazol is primarily indicated in conditions like Benign breast disease, Endometriosis, Gynaecomastia, Long term management of hereditary angioedema, Menorrhagia, Premenstrual syndrome, Severe pain and tenderness in benign fibrocystic breast disease, Treatment of endometriosis.
Danazol is also indicated for secondary conditions like Angioedema, Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.
Contraindications
Danazol is contraindicated in conditions like Vaginal bleeding, Porphyria, Thrombo-embolic complications.

Side Effects
Danazol in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Hirsutism.
