Indications

Clomipramine (HCl) is primarily indicated in conditions like Blocking-replacement, Cataplexy, Chronic diarrhoea in adults, Depression, Obsessive-compulsive disorders, Phobic states.

Clomipramine (HCl) is also indicated for secondary conditions like Autism, Pain, Premenstrual syndrome, Stuttering.

Clomipramine (HCl) in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Bone marrow depression , Hypertension , Parkinsonism , Extrapyramidal symptoms, Jaundice , Seizures .

Warnings / Precautions

Clomipramine should be used with caution in patients with medical history, especially of glaucoma, prostate problems, decreased urine output, thyroid disease, breathing problems, seizure, alcohol use, heart disease, mental or emotional problems, liver or kidney disease and of any drug allergy. This medication can increase sensitivity to sunlight, avoid prolonged sun exposure, wear sunscreen and protective clothing. It should be used with caution in elderly persons because they are usually more sensitive to the effects of this medication. This drug should be used during pregnancy or lactation only if clearly needed.
