Lofexidine
Lofexidine (HCl) is an alpha-2 receptor agonist similar to clonidine. It appears to act centrally to produce reduction in sympathetic tone, but reduction in blood pressure is less marked. Lofexidine (HCl) is used for the symptomatic management of opiod withdrawal.

Side Effects
Lofexidine in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Bradycardia , Prolongation of QI interval.

Lofexidine is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Bradycardia , Drowsiness, Dry mouth, Dry mucous membrane (perticularly dry mouth, throat, and nose), Hypotension , Rebound hypertension on withdrawl.
