Irbesartan is primarily indicated in conditions like Hypertension.

Irbesartan is also indicated for secondary conditions like Diabetic nephropathy, Heart failure, Renal disease in hypertensive type ii diabetes mellitus.

Contraindications

Irbesartan is contraindicated in conditions like Pregnancy, Breast feeding.

Side Effects

Irbesartan in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Hyperkalemia , Impaired renal function , Myelgia.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Irbesartan are Dizziness, Fast & slow heart beat.

Irbesartan is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Abdominal pain, Angioedema, Chest pain, Confusion, Dizziness, Edema, Fatigue, Headache, Hypotension , Nausea and vomiting, Pharyngitis, Rashes , Rhinitis , Tachycardia, UTI .

Warnings / Precautions

Use with caution in renal artery stenosis, aortic or mitral valve stenosis and in obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.Monitor plasma-potassium concentration, particularly in elderly and in patients with renal impairment; lower initial doses may be appropriate in these patients.

Interference in Pathology

Irbesartan may interfere in the diagnosis of Increased level of Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) concentrations, Increased in serum creatinin.
