Side Effects

Chloral Betaine in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Bradycardia , Eosinophilia , CNS depression, Hypoprothorombinemia, Hepatic encephalopathy exacerbation.

Chloral Betaine produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Hepatic coma, Leukopenia. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Chloral Betaine are Coma, Lethargy, Cardiac arrhythmias, Ataxia, Respiratory depression.

Chloral Betaine is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Confusion, Disorientation, Drowsiness, GI symptoms, Skin RashX.

Warnings / Precautions

Patients should observe caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, because it may cause drowsiness. Do not use in larger doses in patients with severe cardiac disease. Exercise caution in administering to patients prone to addiction. It should be used with caution (if contains tartrazine) in patients with aspirin hypersensitivity, because may produced allergic reaction (including bronchial asthma).

Interference in Pathology

Chloral Betaine may interfere in the diagnosis of Assay of Glucose (Benedics Test), Steroids and Urea .
