A pro-drug of acyclovir, used for herpes zoster and herpes simplex infections of the skin and mucous membranes, It is used for preventing cytomegalovirus diseases following renal transplantation. Non-dose-limiting confusion and hallucinations are the most frequent side effects.

Warnings / Precautions

It should be used with caution in patients with renal impairment and doses should be adjusted accorging to creatinine clearance. This medication should be used with caution during pregnancy and lactation.
