Description

Trianthema portulacastrum Linn. A prostrate, glabrous, succulent, annual weed(140!. Root of dirty brown or brownish-white colour, 3-4 inches long and as thick as a crow's quill(52). Stems often tinged purplish. Leaves broadly obovate, unequally paired. Capsules 5 x 3 mm, transversely breaking into an upper coriaceous lid containing one seed ar: a lower membranous cup with 3-5 seeds. Seeds are dull black. There are two forms of the species, one has red flowers and the other has white flowers
