Following its use, body may emit bad smell.The gum may induce dermatitis.

Description

Ferula foetida Regel.. Perennial herb; leaves 2-4 pinnatifid or 2-4 pinnate; Umbels compound; flowers yellow often polygamous; Calyx teeth obsolete, petals ovate, obtuse, or emerginate; fruit orbicular or ellipsoid, much compressed dorsally; lateral ridges winged, dorsal and intermediate filiform or obscure, vittae broad, usually occupying the whole furrow, and as long as the carpel; seed much dorsally compressed, inner surface plane.187' Asafoetida is an oleo-gum resin obtained by incision from the living rhizome and root of F. narthex Bioss; F. foetida Regel, and other species of Ferula
