Description

Daucus carota Linn.. A bristly, biennial herb 1-1.5 m high, branching from the base. Leaves triangular to oblong in outline 2 or 3 pininnatisect into oblong-lanceolate, flatfish umbles of small, white flowers, each with a single, central crimson or red-brown floret. The fruits are oblong, dorsally flattened, with prickles tipped by minute bristles. The light to dark coloured tap root of the plant is used as vegetable and the root and seeds are also used medicinally
