Description

Smilax china Linn.. A deciducius, climber. with sparsely prickled or unarmed stems, elliptic, broad cuneate or rounded leaves and red berries, the root tubers of which furnish the drug known as China root (Chobchini). The tubers are said to have been first introduced into subcontinent by the Portuguese early in the 16th century and soon became a widely used drug employed for the same purposes as Sarsaparilla
