Guggul should be used with caution by persons with liver disease and in case of inflammatory bowel disease and diarrhoea. A physician should be consulted for any case of elevated cholesterol and triglycerides.

Description

Commiphora wightii (Arnold) Bhand.. It is a small tree or shrub with spinescent branches. It is about 1.2-1.8 m high, sometimes more than 2 meters having greenish-yellow outer bark, shining and alternate leaves and few flowers, solitary or in clusters. A gum-resin (Muqul) is obtained by incision of the bark and it is collected in the cold season. The resin occurs in rounded irregular tears or lumps of agglutinated tears of variable size and is pale yellow, brown or dull green in colour
