Side Effects

Measles, Mumps and Rubella Vaccine in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Febrile convulsions , Otitis media , Respiratory tract infections , Viral infections , Thrombocytopenic purpura .

Measles, Mumps and Rubella Vaccine is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Bronchitis , Diarrhea, Edema, Fever, Nervousness, Pain , Parotid pain and swelling, Pharyngitis, Redness, Rhinitis .

Warnings / Precautions

Vaccines should be used with caution in patients with pre-existing infection, blood disorder, tumor, bone marrow disease, tuberculosis, seizure or allergy especially to egg or neomycin antibiotics. Measels vaccine should not be recommended to children below the age of 1 year. Vaccination should be postponed in patients suffering from any acute illness. Immunization should not be carried out in individuals who have previously had a severe local or general reaction to the vaccine. Some vaccine contains antibiotics in small amount and should not be given to patients with history of anaphylaxis to the agent used. It should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
