Calcipotriol

Calcipotriol is a synthetic analogue of vitamin D, a fat soluble sterol, sometimes considered to be hormone or hormone precursor. Calcipotriol is involved in promoting normal bone development in body by regulating calcium, phosphorus and minerals. Vitamin D is a secosteroid and sometimes popularly known as the 'sunshine vitamin' because formed in the skin from 7-dehydrocholesterol under the influence of ultraviolet irradiation. Calcipotriol is also found in certain food. Fish liver oils, especially code liver oil are good sources of vitamin D. Calipotriol effects cell division and differentiation. At the cellular level the action of calcipotriol is very similar preparation for psoriosis to that of the natural hormones calcitriol or 1, 25 dihydroxy Vit D where or its systemic effects on Ca.

Side Effects
Calcipotriol in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Photosensitivity , Hypercalcemia , Perioral dermatitis, Dry skin.
The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Calcipotriol are Hypercalcemia.
