Noradrenaline (Acid Tartrate) is a naturally occuring catecholamine, a neurohormone released by the postganglionic adrenergic nerves and some brain neurons. Noradrenaline (Acid Tartrate) is a powerful vasoconstrictor. It causes an increase in blood pressure and used to support blood pressure in acute hypotensive states.

Elimination: it is metabolised via extensive by Liver, plasma half-life is 1.75 min, renal excretion is extensive.

Indications

Noradrenaline (Acid Tartrate) is primarily indicated in conditions like Acid-related dyspepsia, Cardiac arrest, Hypotension, Shock.

Noradrenaline (Acid Tartrate) is also indicated for secondary conditions like Local anaesthesia, Local anaesthetic.

Contraindications

Noradrenaline (Acid Tartrate) is contraindicated in conditions like Hypertension, Hyperthyroidism, Myocardial infarction, Ischaemic heart disease.

Side Effects

Noradrenaline (Acid Tartrate) in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Gangrene , Local necrosis , Sloughing .

Noradrenaline (Acid Tartrate) produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Cerebral hemorrhage, Pulmonary edema , Hypertension. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Noradrenaline (Acid Tartrate) are Headache, Sweating , Pallor, Photophobia, Severe hypertension, Retrosternal pain.

Noradrenaline (Acid Tartrate) is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Anxiety, Bradycardia , Headache, Palpitation.

Warnings / Precautions

Infuse noradrenaline into large vein to avoid necrosis & sloughing. Dangerously high B.P may produced with overdoses, so monitor B.P after every two min. from the time of administration until desired B.P is obtained, then after every five min. administration is to be continued. Its use is not a substitute for the replacement of blood, plasma, fluid & electrolytes. .
