Side Effects

Methyprylone in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Polyuria , Anxiety , Hallucinations , Seizures , Hyperreflexia , Dependence .

Methyprylone produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Pulmonary edema , Coma, Respiratory depression, Hypotension. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Methyprylone are Coma, Hyperthermia, Respiratory depression, Hypothermia, Pupillary changes, Dysarthria , Nystagmus.

Methyprylone is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include CNS disturbances , GI disturbance.

Warnings / Precautions

Patient should observe caution while driving or performing other task requiring alertness because it may produce dizziness. Total daily intake should not exceed to 400 mg. Methyprylone should be used with caution in patients with kidney and liver disease. Perform periodic blood counts if use over prolonged period. Patients should be warned against the concomitant use of methyprylone and alcohol or other CNS depressants. Habituation and physical dependence have been reported to occur when excessive doses are taken over an extended period of time.

Interference in Pathology

Methyprylone may interfere in the diagnosis of Holotorff Koch Modification of the Zimmerman Test for determinatin of 17-Ketosteroids .
