Indoramin (HCl) is a receptor blocking agent. Chemically Indoramin (HCl) is identified as N-[ 1-[2-(1H-indol-3-yl) ethyl ]-4-piperidinyl] benzamide. It produces relaxation of blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Indoramin (HCl) is used in hypertension and in prophylaxis of migraine. Indoramin (HCl) is prepared by chemical synthesis. Indoramin (HCl) is not available in any combiantion preparations. Indoramin (HCl) is administered orally.

Indoramin (HCl) is also indicated for secondary conditions like Urinary outflow obstruction.

Contraindications

Indoramin (HCl) is contraindicated in conditions like Cardiac failure.

Side Effects

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Indoramin (HCl) are Hypotension, Convulsions , Coma, Unconsciousness, Respiratory depression, Hypothermia, Respiratory depression, Fits , Respiratory depression.

Indoramin (HCl) is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Depression, Dizziness, Dry mouth, Failure of ejaculation, Fatigue, Headache, Nasal stiffiness, Sedation , Weight gain.

Warnings / Precautions

Patients should observe caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, because it may cause drowsiness. Indoramin should be used with caution in patients with hepatic (liver), kidney insufficiency, epilepsy, parkinson s disease or history of depression. It should be avoided in pateints with heart failure.
