Indications

Iodixanol is primarily indicated in conditions like Angiography, Arteriography, Hysterosalpingography, Myelography, Urography, Venography.

Iodixanol is also indicated for secondary conditions like Computed tomography scans.

Contraindications

Iodixanol is contraindicated in conditions like Renal impairment, Hypersensitivity to any component of product.

Side Effects

Iodixanol in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Hypotension , Hypotension , Syncope , Edema, Cardiac arrest , Irregular heart beat, Paralysis, Rigors.

Iodixanol is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Chest pain, Chills, Fever, Headache, Nausea.

Warnings / Precautions

Intrathecal use of Iodixanol results in serious adverse events including death. It should not be given to a child who has recently used a laxative (stool softener) or has not eaten properly before the test. It is not known whether iodixanol passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Older adults may need special care in avoiding dehydration by drinking extra fluids before and after the radiologic test. Kidney function may also need to be watched closely after iodixanol administration. It is a nonionic dimeric iodionated radiographic contract medium.

Interference in Pathology

Iodixanol may interfere in the diagnosis of Urinanalysis , Thyroid Function Test.
