Gestodene is hormonal contraceptive given in combination with other hormonal contraceptives. Gestodene is an orally active progestin which is used in combination with the synthetic oestrogen ethinyloestradial for Centraceplian.

Side Effects

Gestodene in overdosage may give rise to further complications which include Hypertension , Necrotizing pancreatitis.

Gestodene produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Venous thromboembolism, Ischemic heart disease, Cerebrovascular disease, Stroke. Careful monitoring is needed with proper medical management.

The signs and symptoms that are produced after acute overdosage of Gestodene are Nausea & vomiting, Withdrawal bleeding in females.

Gestodene is known to cause more or less tolerable side effects which are usually transient. These include Breast swelling, Changes in body weights, Depressive moods, Headache, Membranous dysmenorrhea, Metasma, Nausea and vomiting.

Warnings / Precautions

It should be used with caution in patients with any allergy (especially drug allergy), abnormal vaginal bleeding, liver, kidney or heart disease, cancer of the breast or genitals, missed abortion,blood clots,seizures,migraine,asthma,depression or diabetes.Limit alcohol,as this may increase side effects of this drug.It shold be use with caution while performing tasks requiring mental alertness(e.g.driving)as this drug may cause drowsiness.
